There are six critical factors you need to know about to determine which LifePROTEKT wandering prevention/GPS personal location device best fits your needs:

#1 Cell Carrier Coverage. If the individual lives in an area where cell coverage is unavailable, then the devices we represent will only pick up on the GPS signal signal and will not get an accurate location since cellular connection is required for triangulation purposes.

#2 Battery Life. This technology requires a lifestyle modification since many of the devices have limited battery life (24 hour to 7 days) which is very similar to cellphone technology. Although new LifePROTEKT products are coming into market that greatly enhance the battery life (30 days) using technologies like Zigbee, for instance.

#3 Application to Individual. How the device applies or affixes to the individual is very important. As we know, the elderly population may have skin that may be very sensitive and some of these heavier wrist based devices will not work. Therefore alternative solutions to how they are worn are also available.

#4 Does device need to lock onto individual? Let’s not forget whether the device needs to be locked on to the individual. Especially in the autism community we know that a significant amount of children will wander without wearing anything.

#5 Price Point Devices Range from $99 -$550. Depending on the coverage and features. The monthly carrier service costs will be additional. In some cases health insurance coverage will pick up the tab for these devices.

#6 Do you need features such as fall detection, 24 x 7 call center, predator alerts, SOS, heat sensor, two way calling, etc.

Check out all the products represented on LifePROTEKT’s Products that Protect tab and please contact us at 800 939 3952 if you need further information

Each week thousands of people connect with LifePROTEKT to find out the latest information on wandering prevention, fall detection and location based GPS products. Some just visit to read the posts that are relevant to the communities we represent, and others look at the various products we offer in the personal location based GPS market as shown in our comparison grid.

Over the past year, it has been our pleasure to have donated hundreds of devices to families in need for their at-risk loved ones that may be prone to wandering. We have also donated our safety products to various healthcare organizations, law enforcement agencies, and charitable foundations including Autism Speaks, TacaNOW, Autism Society of America, Mason Allen Medlam Foundation and the National Autism Association to name a few. That does not include the individual personal families we have helped to secure their loved ones in order to rest a little easier at night.

Each month we also run a contest through the Autism Women’s Network which gives one family in need the opportunity to win a personal location device which includes a one year free subscription to protect their loved one with autism. If interested, you can enter your story here: http://www.lifeprotekt.com/autism-womens-network-lifeprotekt-gps-give-away/

Along with these achievements we wanted to share some of the very relevent information provided by LifePROTEKT’s strategic partners. Over the next few months, major enhancements and improvements will be released on LifePROTEKT’s “Products That Protect” offerings. You can check them out here: http://www.lifeprotekt.com/category/products-that-protect/

The advancements of the new products being launched will consist of things like two way calling, 30 day battery life, child predator alerts, bread crumbing, destination alerts, one-click geofencing, SOS Alert, temperature alerts, much more significant cell coverage for increased and faster accuracy in location and the list goes on. This does not even include any software advancements being made on these products. Now add the better cell coverage provided by the carriers, extended battery life and multiple choice offerings of which carrier works best in your area, and the solutions that www.locationbasedgps.com provides, will assist many loved ones being brought back safely to their families or caregivers. They may even prevent them from wandering off in the first place.

LET’S GO ONE STEP FURTHER. Since LifePROTEKT understands the special needs communities we can recommend the best solution that fits the needs of the individuals that may be at-risk. Our products are the best solutions that are in the personal GPS industry as we work very closely with manufacturers such as Lok8u, Securatrac, AmberAlertGPS, Aerotel, Laipac, Pocketinder, Enfora and others. We take into consideration the sensory issues of an autistic child, the technical ability of the caretaker using smartphone or text messaging technology, we even determine coverage zones prior to providing the right solution that fits the needs of the family. For example, AT&T may not have the same coverage in your area as T-Mobile hence we predetermine the best solution to fit the needs of the family. (Please note that this technology relies on the triangulation of both cell phone and GPS technology).

LifePROTEKT is the ONLY company that offers various solutions that fit the needs of the special needs family and we are always looking at for the best scenario for parents and caregivers.

One More Thing We Offer. For every sale that is put through LifePROTEKT a portion of the proceeds is donated back to the autism and Alzheimer’s community. We do care about the communities we represent and make this pledge to help in spreading the awareness of at-risk individuals that may wander.

Finally. We are working very closely with healthcare organizations to help reduce the costs of these devices by covering them through various healthcare insurance programs. We have been lobbying for Center of Disease Control’s ICD-9 coverage to help more families where a wandering loved one may be a concern. CDC’s ICD-9 would provide insurance reimbursement for LifePROTEKT devices. This would be similar to the way a doctor would prescribe a glucometer for a diabetic. In this case, the doctor would prescribe a wandering prevention device for an at-risk individual to be covered by the family healthcare provider.

We ask you to share our website with others and help us promote solutions that have the potential to save many lives as we provide a small piece of technology that gives a great peace of mind!

We also request your help the Mason Medlam Foundation by signing the petition for Mason Alert. This will help so many families that have special needs individuals potentially save their loved ones from the same situation that had happened to Mason Medlam some short weeks ago. May God bless the Medlam family for their compassion and committment to preventing another tragedy from occurring due to wandering.

Sign and pass along the petition here: http://www.lifeprotekt.com/a-personal-request-from-sheila-and-kenneth-medlam/

LifePROTEKT uses the latest Location Based GPS devices and wandering prevention technologies to help find and care for those that can easily get lost or want to live independent lives.

Over the past few months, LifePROTEKT has participated in many autism events and is planning participation in various future events on behalf of the autistic community. We have donated personal GPS devices to organizations such as Autism Speaks, the National Autism Association of Central Texas, Autism Society of America, TACANOW, Mason Medlam Foundation to name a few. Our support at various events, including ones we were unable to attend, is important in promoting the awareness of our location based devices in relation to the specific campaigns of each foundation. The donations supplied by LifePROTEKT were given to raise money in silent auctions as well as to provide our products to deserving families within the community that are faced with the challenges of caring for special needs or autistic loved ones.

It is our mission to help families that have at-risk wanderers by providing solutions that will enable personal location devices to be more cost effective and affordable. LifePROTEKT is dedicated to providing care givers, individuals and organizations with the most superior, innovative personal location based GPS technologies available while providing a network of support for those who care for special needs individuals. We want to give back to those communities who rely on our technology to assist them in safeguarding their loved ones!

LifePROTEKT is committed to growing grassroots community awareness programs that educate caregivers about products that are available to prevent wandering, locate individuals that have wandered and to increase the safety for the at-risk community of autistic and special needs loved ones. Please help us in our quest to spread the word about our products and services!

We believe that drawing attention to this epidemic which is growing in mass proportion is paramount.

Our management team has a long history of involvement with the autism community. The founder of LifePROTEKT has worked with various autism organizations for more than a decade. He is also a caregiver of two loving nephews who are autistic. We are dedicated to educating others, as 1 out of every 91 children born today is born on the autism spectrum. We believe that drawing attention to this epidemic which is growing in mass proportion is paramount.

We want to provide an arena where each personal story can be heard. We offer a platform for exchanging opinions and insights. Together we can build a community that can make great strides and give a voice to those families who are victims of autism. It is LifePROTEKT’s intention to contribute financially to education and research efforts as we to present information and solutions that can give these families a better sense of security and can be used as another tool to help keep their loved ones safe.

LifePROTEKT assists these care givers and families by providing helpful information and solutions...

The escalation of Alzheimer’s is unfathomable as every 70 seconds someone is diagnosed with this tragic disease. Currently over 5.3 million Americans have Alzheimer’s. LifePROTEKT understands the grave impact this disease has on the families of these individuals. We also acknowledge the challenges that health care and law enforcement agencies face to ensure these individuals safety and well being. According to statistics at the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), at the Federal Bureau of Investigation there were over 102,764 reported missing persons since 2008. Currently, there are over 50,000 active missing adult cases.

Each day there are reports of Alzheimer’s patients wandering off on their own, not to be found for days. It is truly a devastating disease as family members watch their loved one deteriorate to someone who doesn’t recognize their own loved ones. Eventually, the person afflicted is no longer aware of their own identity. LifePROTEKT assists these care givers and families by providing helpful information and solutions which can alleviate some of their stress and offer them one more way to help with the care of their loved ones.

We discuss the latest Alzheimer care strategies, research findings and advocacy initiatives as it relates to the Alzheimer’s and special needs communities. Our audience includes: caregivers, people diagnosed with dementia, their families, health care professionals, researchers, Alzheimer advocates and the general public.

According to the FBI’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC), 778,161 missing person records were entered into NCIC missing persons log in 2008. Even more troubling, is the fact that the number of missing persons reported to law enforcement has increased almost 500% in the past 20 years. At LifePROTEKT, we have a special focus on the issue of missing persons. We ask for everyone’s participation, to the best of their ability, to assist in the location of and prevention of missing persons. It is relevant to each and every parent, caregiver, and family member. LifePROTEKT encourages discussions on how people can become proactive and what could possibly be done as prevention measures. We want to assist in providing the right solutions to help parents and caregivers to better monitor their children, elderly parents and other loved ones. We are linked in with some of the largest law enforcement organizations and nonprofit organizations to assist in our protection advocacy. LifePROTEKT wants there to be no more kidnappings, no more lost children, no more confused wandering adults. Today’s technology can assist in finding your loved ones should they become lost or missing. It is possible to pinpoint a person’s whereabouts. Don’t you think that this would assist in the prevention of, or at least put the odds in your favor, that your loved one does NOT become a statistic?

LifePROTEKT appreciates the enormous tasks faced by those in the health care industry in relation to caring to those patients with Alzheimer’s, Autism or other similar conditions. One of the greatest issues faced today is safety. Many facilities such as assisted living residences, hospitals, home health companies and nursing homes can now use location based personal trackers to help in maintaining the well being of their clients.

LifeProtekt is proud of the role it plays in providing a venue to discuss issues pertinent to these individuals and ways to help safeguard those at risk clients. The risk of wandering is one of the greatest liabilities in caring for those who have Alzheimer’s, autism and other such disabilities. The insurance costs alone for the liability that each institution faces has skyrocketed based on exponentially new cases diagnosed every year.

In the past, most hospital facilities and assisted living environments have used ‘bed checks’- a sensor that alarms when a patient leaves their bed, which of course is of some value and was the only sentinel available. One of the critical issues that the health care industry faces is the ability to track clients when they go missing. The way the system operates today is that the bed check will send out an alarm to the central monitoring stations but it is too late since the patient has already left their bed. The underlying situation is there is no way to track the patient once they have left the designated area? With location based personal trackers, caregivers will be more adept in locating these individuals.

Just as facilities currently use telemetry to monitor cardiac events of multiple patients via computer they can now also monitor multiple at risk patients’ locations using personal tracking devices. This ability reduces the need for one to one nursing care in these incidents as nurses are frequently paid to sit and watch a confused patient just to make sure they will not wander off.

The location based trackers are not just for those with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or autism. As many people in the patient population are also at risk for becoming confused and could potentially wander, such as those with hypoxia or under the influence of certain medications. Even a urinary tract infection can cause confusion in an elderly person. LifePROTEKT stands ready to assist and support the health care sector.

By using this technology, healthcare facilities will be able to better utilize staff, decrease liability and most importantly, help preserve the safety of its clients. Today both private and public facilities can use the same technology being utilized by National Security, Homeland Security and even your own local law enforcement agencies. One of the greatest benefits to utilizing location based service devices for the healthcare industry is providing an added degree of personal security which seems to become more relevant each day as the populations of the disabled patients increase. Both accidental and unlawful situations arise when people with disabilities are lost or wander. These are all many obstacles that health care officials are faced with on a daily basis and LifePROTEKT provides solutions
